I am a freelance web designer and WordPress specialist
Below are the basic steps in building your website. Websites vary in complexity. I work to determine how much time we need to accomplish each phase of your site efficiently.
1
We work together to determine your goals and target audience
- What do you want your website to accomplish?
- What will you offer your visitor?
- Who do you want to visit your site? The more specific we can get with our brainstorming, the more successful your site will be.
Planning or “Discovery” phase can be 1-2 phone meetings or, more complex sites will take more time.
2
Collect, Write, Evaluate your content
The key to an effective site is good content. I will help you with advice about what to include, writing tips, and best practices.
-
- Consider, how written content will fulfill your goals
- Think about how the site will serve both new and returning visitors?
- Write short chunks of spare, focused and well organized text.
With your content in hand, I will design a site plan that includes all the great features you’ll need, and a timeline to accomplish the work.
3
Design
With your content and the site plan we’ve developed, I create a design for your site, that is within your budget.
This can include custom typography, colors, and other customizations. We can use artwork and photos that you have available or we can pick out pictures from a stock agency.
My goal is to create a site that is beautiful, and will communicate your message clearly. This is the path to a successful website.
4
Build, Test, And Launch
Once you, the client, has signed off on the site design, I will begin to build the site.
This can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month or more depending on the complexity of your project.
Before we launch your site, I test all of the site functions, including forms, links, and more, to make sure it works as expected.
Once you sign off on the site, we push the buttons to make your site live and visible on the web.
5
Ongoing Site Maintenance
The Internet and the web is constantly changing. WordPress, and those who create themes and plugins, do a great job of improving the core software to allow you to accomplish even more with your site.
To take advantage of these new features, and avoid security problems down the line, it’s important to stay on top of your site updates.
I offer – and recommend – a Maintenance Plan. I will keep your site up to date with the latest software and security measures and keep your ranking steady.
6
2 Month Check In
Included in my services is two months of monitoring your site, after the site is launched. As more people use the site, we’ll often find things we need to tweak.
After two months, we will check in, identify any issues or changes required, and create a plan to address them.
